About the Tour

You have surely heard of the Medici family , noble Florentine bankers. In this tour I want to tell you about their life, their successes, but also their misfortunes.

We will start from their first house, Palazzo Medici Riccardi, a masterpiece of the Renaissance where we will meet Cosimo the elder , also called pater patriae (father of the homeland).

We will then go to meet Lorenzo the Magnificent and we will stop or talk about him in the very place where he lost his brother, and risked dying: Piazza del Duomo.

After meeting Lorenzo, we will move to Piazza della Signoria , dedicated to Cosimo I. The first Grand Duke of Tuscany. A decidedly bizarre character, but also very smart.

Cosimo I will also accompany us on the old bridge , the most beautiful bridge in Florence, in Italy and I dare to venture, in the world.

We will conclude our visit in front of Palazzo Pitti where the last member of the Medici family dies, but also the place where the "family pact" is written by the hand of a fantastic woman.

The Medici have always been fascinated, and believe me, after this visit you will be in love with them!

Meeting point: Open in Google Maps

How to find me: I will be in front of the entrance of Palazzo Medici Riccardi in via Camillo Cavour 1

Vincenzo è preparato e molto preciso. il tour è impegnativo negli argomenti.

Christian 09/03/2021

The tour contains many detailed information which is quite hard to follow. There are not many but long stops (half an hour) per site. We wished we had more interaction from the group to the tourguide.

Response from Vincenzo
Many thanks for your review Christian, I believe that every opinion counts and really appreciate when I receive constructive critics but allow me to paste the message you sent with this review and answer publically point by point. "We felt you were reading facts out of a book to us. The whole tour did not have a path to follow through. If you connect the information to the surrounding and have some pictures with you it is much more easy for the audience to follow. This way it is barely able to remember anything because you drift away. We use the English language in our profession or grew up speaking English, so the language was not the problem. Also we felt you were pointing out, we did not know historical facts about your city, which seemed inappropriate and rude, this is exactly why we take such tours, to get to know the facts and the city." This is your message First of all I'd want you to understand that the questions at the beginning are made to know each other, to create a connection but also to better understand, for a guide, how to manage the tour in order to offer a good experience. About the multitude of details: Hearing that for your first time in Florence you chosen a so specific tour, based clearly on the history of a family, not on the city facts, wasn't pleasant. The details indeed were exactly to make you understand who the Medici family was. Long stops: as the tour follows the most important moments of the Medici family history every single monument was connected to a story and to a character of the family. Each one of those events indeed, in order to be understood have to be explained with details. Knowing the facts and the city: as it was the first time you visited the beautiful Florence I believe it would have been more indicated to chose a general visit like for example "exploring Florence" or "Florentine legends" both tours that I created in order to give a more clear view to everyone who arrives in Florence for the first time, instead of a so specific one. Interaction: at every stop after the explication was asked "do you have any questions?" If something was not clear you had five opportunities to ask and be answered. This said, I'm still unhappy that you didn't have a good experience and I strongly hope to be able to show you Florence, maybe with a more indicated tour, the next time you'll visit this city.
