Free tour of the Jewish Quarter in Berlin
Tour description
Our tour begins at the central Alexanderplatz and from there we will walk directly into the heart of the Jewish quarter of Berlin, learning about the history of the neighborhood and the Jewish community in Berlin. We will discover the conditions that led to Hitler's rise to power and the methods used to spread terror in the population. We will visit the Great Synagogue in Berlin and the Protestant church of Sophienkirche, as well as the memorials dedicated to the tragic night of broken glass. We will pass through the Calle de la Tolerancia, we will find signs of the impact of the Nazi regime and World War II, in the neighborhood and we will know the history behind the Stolpersteine, where we will honor the memory of those killed during the Holocaust. We will learn stories of bravery and resistance on the part of the Berlin population, to try to resist the tyranny of the Nazi regime. As well as the political climate that was lived in Germany before the arrival of the German National Socialist Workers Party to the government. Finally we will finish our Free Tour of the Jewish Quarter in Berlin next to the old Grosse Hamburger Strasse Jewish Historical Cemetery, where the last victims gathered before being transferred to the concentration camp in occupied Europe.
