All about Nassau Tour with Surprise Seafood Snack
Tour description
Hi guys, this is Archie and I'd like to meet you and give you an orientation to Nassau history and culture. Your tour includes a free surprise seafood snack on on the house!
We are a two guide team, Archie & Petura. Come be a Bahamian for a day, learn how we live, come listen to our stories.
Our tour is in the historical Downtown Nassau and starts at Parliament Square next to the Queen Victoria statue. You'll learn about the British colonial history of The Bahamas, Loyalist, and government of The Bahamas.
Next is a short walk to Christ Church Cathedral which is the state church of The Bahamas. There you will learn about religion in the Bahamas as well as the history of the cathedral which dates back to the 1600s. We'll go inside the church and we'll show you the royal bench which is roped off for visits by a royal or the Governor General.
Afterward is the governor's mansion which is called Government House and is like our White House. There you will learn about the history of the mansion and even about Christopher Columbus who landed right here in The Bahamas on his first trip to the "New World" back in 1492.
Our tour progresses over to the world famous Graycliff hotel & resort. The property has stood as a hotel since 1844 and has had many owners since then. Rich and famous like Beyonce, Winton Churchill, Patrick Ewing, Sean Connery and more have stayed there. They also have a wine distillery and world class cigars that you get to see made right in front of you and you will have a chance to sample wines free of charge and chocolates as well.
Next is the John Watlings Distillery which is named after John Watlings, a famous pirate. At John Watlings, they make a wonderful rum product that has all the crowd raving. The distillery offers a free tour of the factory and there you will get a chance to taste the rum as well as other drinks at their bar.
.
The tour leaves John Watlings for Tasty Teas, which is a herbal tea shop. The Bahamas practices a rich herbal tea tradition and the knowledge was passed down from generation to generation.
The tour completes back at Parliament square for a total of 2-3 hours.
