Free Historical London Pub Walk
Tour description
Join me on this fun, friendly and informative walk through a section of the old city of London. I have been conducting group pub tours of London for the past 20 years and am very excited to be able to offer you this opportunity to experience this journey through the old streets and alleys.
We will discover the city's liquid history and how pub culture has changed over the years. Now you can’t go on a pub tour without visiting any pubs, so we will, of course, include four of them on our journey, where there will be time to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a drink in three of our chosen public houses. Sometimes, if pubs are busy, we will be standing.
I have chosen four completely different pubs for you to experience. Each one has a unique history attached to it, with decor to match: from a beautiful art nouveau tavern, to a notable 17th century cellar; and a step worn down by the thousands of customers who have entered this tavern.
Discover historical fun facts about the district and the details of famous characters who have frequented them;
Highlights include:
- The inspirational story of the church of St Bride’s in Fleet Street
- Dr Samuel Johnson’s famous lucky cat…give him a coin!
- The exteriors, interiors, customs and stories of our four chosen pubs.
- The chance to play a popular game from Shakespeare’s time.
You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions about London while we’re in the pubs, and take a few pictures. You may even see one of the resident ghosts!
The tour begins outside the Blackfriar Pub and finishes close to Chancery Lane Station.
So book now, and join me on this walk through one of London’s lesser visited areas and discover just why we love our pubs!
