Tour description

Discover La Paz & El Alto through a thoughtfully curated cultural experience led by a passionate local host.

This small-group experience is designed for curious travelers who want to go beyond the usual highlights and gain a deeper understanding of daily life, history, and the social dynamics that shape Bolivia’s most fascinating cities.
We begin in Sopocachi, La Paz’s bohemian neighborhood, meeting at Plaza España near one of the city’s most scenic viewpoints. From here, you’ll start to understand how geography, culture, and history intertwine in everyday life in La Paz.
Together we’ll ride Mi Teleférico, the iconic cable car system that connects La Paz and El Alto and has become an essential part of daily life in the city. From above, we’ll enjoy breathtaking views while learning about the relationship between these two cities and the powerful social and cultural dynamics that shape them today.
In El Alto, we’ll explore areas that most travelers rarely visit, discovering everyday life, hidden corners, and the unique urban landscape that makes this city so fascinating. On Thursdays and Sundays, we’ll also walk briefly through part of the famous El Alto flea market.
After returning to La Paz’s historic center, we’ll dive into architecture, recent history, and the social and political context that helps explain modern Bolivia.
We’ll finish the experience in the touristic district, where, beyond souvenir shopping, you’ll discover Andean beliefs, traditions, and rituals — and how paceños keep their cultural identity alive in modern urban life.
This experience is especially appreciated by travelers interested in culture, history, and meaningful local perspectives rather than a quick sightseeing checklist.

At the end of the experience, if you enjoyed the tour, you are welcome to contribute what you feel the experience was worth.
This tour is part of a small Bolivian-owned local project, and your support helps sustain independent guiding, local storytelling, and responsible tourism in our city. Every contribution directly supports a local small business.
Thank you for supporting locally led travel experiences.
