With more than 1,000 years of history, Figueres' evolution has been marked by specific events that made it one of the most important cities in Catalonia between the 18th and 20th centuries . It has a collection of modernist and noucentista buildings, and the largest surrealist space in the world, the Dalí Museum .

We will start our tour on the Rambla, the central point of life in Figueres. Did you know that the inventor of submarine navigation was born here ? We will then go to see the Birthplace of Salvador Dalí , and the modernist house where the family moved a few years later. We will also see the old slaughterhouse, one of the landmark buildings of Catalan Modernism . We will walk along some streets where markets are traditionally held until we reach Plaza Josep Pla . There we will admire the beautiful building of the Teatro-Jardín . Figueres had up to 2 theatres during the 20th century, a consequence of the enormous cultural development that took place in the city.

Finally, after crossing the heart of the historic centre passing by the Town Hall and the Church of Sant Pere , we will arrive at the Dalí Theatre-Museum.
