A native of Houston who believes that Houston can be a walkable city! I've travelled all over the world, and lived for several years in Europe. Now it's time for me to show you what I love about my hometown! I studied literature and creative writing at the University of Texas and am a published writer. My ideal Sunday in Houston is a stroll through the Menil Collection and a visit to the Rothko Chapel followed by brunch at one of the cafes in Montrose.

Tour description

Galveston has had many names, the pirate kingdom of Jean Lafitte, the Wall Street of the South, and the Free State of Galveston.  On this tour, you'll learn the fascinating story of Galveston's rise and fall through the centuries.

We'll explore the Strand, where millionaires made their fortunes when Galveston was the wealthiest city in Texas.  You'll learn the tale of Jean Lafitte, the swashbuckler his pirate kingdom, and the heyday of Galveston during the roaring twenties.  You'll also learn about the Great Hurricane of 1900, the deadliest natural disaster in American history to this day.

From pirate cove to Civil War battleground to bootlegging capital, Galveston has always been a city of adventurers, fortune-hunters, and outlaws.  Come join us to hear their stories.
