The City Pint Trail: London's Most Historic Pub Walk
London has thousands of pubs. But hidden inside the ancient City — the original square mile where London was founded — are a handful of taverns that most visitors, and even most Londoners, never find.
On this two-hour walk, I'll take you through cobbled alleys and secret courtyards to visit pubs that have been pouring drinks since the 1600s. We stop at a candlelit tavern where Charles Dickens was a regular, a Victorian gin palace that still has its original etched glass and mahogany bar, and a 17th-century inn so tucked away it has no street-facing entrance — you enter through a narrow passage that feels like stepping back in time.
Along the way you'll hear the stories behind the stones: the Great Fire that destroyed most of the City, the writers and rebels who drank here, the tunnels beneath your feet, and the London that not all the tourists get to see.
This is a small group tour — usually no more than 10 people — which means you'll actually hear the stories, ask questions, and not feel like you're just one more tourist.
Drinks are not included in the price — you're welcome to drink as much or as little as you like at each stop, at your own pace. Some guests go for a pint at every pub, others just enjoy the atmosphere. Either is absolutely fine.
I'm Mauricio — I've been guiding these streets for years, and I genuinely love sharing them. Come for the history, stay for the stories. I'll see you at St Paul's.
