Tour description

Welcome to Kayonza – The Hidden Gem Near Akagera National Park!

My name is John Habihirwe, and I am a passionate local guide with over 6 years of experience leading travelers through the vibrant communities surrounding Akagera National Park. I was born and raised right here in Kayonza, and I’m proud to share the rich culture, traditions, and everyday life of my people.

On this unique walking tour, we’ll explore local farms, banana plantations, and visit artisan groups where women and youth make eco-friendly crafts like banana leaf slippers. You’ll experience traditional Rwandan hospitality, taste local snacks, and witness how daily life unfolds in our village—from cooking food in clay pots to learning how banana beer is brewed.

We’ll also stop to enjoy scenic views of the surrounding hills and possibly meet local farmers or dancers in action. This isn’t just a tour—it’s a deep cultural experience!

By the end of our walk, you’ll not only have learned about our history and way of life, but also have new friends in the heart of Rwanda.

Book now and let’s explore Kayonza together—authentic, welcoming, and unforgettable!
