Emmanuel had a deep and personal knowledge of the community and it was such a pleasure to learn more about Jamestown from him. The information he shared with us was so interesting, and we felt very safe as he took us through the area. I really loved being able to interact with the community along the way. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is looking to get an up close and personal experience with this historically important and vibrant community.

Excellent tour that provided significant insight into the history and culture of Ghana. In addition, you learn about the daily life of ordinary people who live in the Jamestown neighborhood.

I learned so much from Emmanual. About the history of Accra and Ghana, and about the Ga people and the clans. Very interesting. To see the places where slaves were sold was devastating, but a part of the history.

Excellent tour, very informative and eye opening, great guide!

I did not expect the tour to go right in the heart of the local Ghanaian community. We have walked through small streets and even saw a wedding (not part of the tour). The guide knows a lot about the community and tries to share the vibes through both teaching you some local customs and telling many stories. What I would do differently if I were to do this tour again? I would get enough water, wear a hat, wear a long sleeved white light shirt and avoid coming early. There is not a good place to wait for the tour to start. Good shoes are also a must but thankfully I had good shoes on :)

He was punctual, nice and informative! Sometimes it is not easy to understand what he says, if you are not used to the accent (not his fault of course), but he is ready to repeat himself and answer every time you ask something! Very patient! The Makola market is in the list of things to be visited, but not in the description, so we asked about it when we met him and he took us there after the tour, because it was not really included.. So he was really nice! We definitely recommend this tour is you have a good knowledge of English! It gives you a lot of useful and interesting info!

Emmanuel was a great guide around Jamestown. He taught us some local expressions and historical facts and took us around the communities. We also got to try a local drink and were able to see how local food was made. It was also nice and unique among other things to go down to the sea and see how fish was being smoked and to see also the new harbour that was built there. We can only recommend Emmanuel’s tour, but make sure to also bring water.

Emmanuel was excellent from start to finish. 10/10. Communication with him, once booked, was easy. Very approachable and knowledgeable throughout the tour. Highly recommend this tour, should you go to Accra, Ghana !

Wow! What an amazing experience. Emmanuel is incredibly knowledgeable and spent so much time sharing the history of Jamestown, it's people, culture and so much more. I even got to learn a few words in Ga! He’s well-known in the community and full of so much insight. I got to see a side of Accra I never would have explored on my own—hidden spots, alleyways, and streets only a local would know. I highly recommend this tour if you want to experience the real Accra beyond the modern cityscape. I’m already planning to bring more travelers next week! Emmanuel is simply the best. Just make sure to wear comfy shoes—it was a solid four hours, but I asked for the in-depth version!

Emmanuel chooses a great mix of places with a personal stories in combination with places that have an importance for current life or the spiritual or political organisation of life in British and Dutch Accra.
