Free Tour of Carmona: Morning Star of Europe
Description
We'll begin in the central Plaza de San Fernando , the city's historic heart and ancient Roman forum, to embark on a journey through more than 5,000 years of history. We'll visit the Town Hall , the imposing Priory Church of Santa María ("Carmona's Cathedral"), the Monastery of Santa Clara, and the Convent of the Barefoot Nuns.
We'll stroll through the monumental Plaza de Abastos , a former convent converted into a market, and arrive at the spectacular Puerta de Córdoba and the Alcázar of King Pedro (now a Parador hotel), with unforgettable views of the Carmona plain . We'll discover palaces, stately homes, the City Museum, and the history of the Carmo coin , a symbol of the privilege of minting one's own currency. We'll also discuss the local cuisine, the famous "torta inglesa" (a type of cake), the "alboronía" (a traditional stew), and the most important festivals.
We'll finish at the Puerta de Sevilla and the Church of San Pedro with its curious "Giraldilla" tower. All of this will be accompanied by an official tour guide, in small groups, with exclusive recommendations and a surprise gift.
