Description
Central Burying Grounds- Come with Pete starting at this burying ground. It holds many interesting early Bostonians, including some victims of the Boston Massacre and world famous artist, Gilbert Stuart. Hear a SPOOKY event that Pete experienced while visiting this location.... it will chill the bones!
Edgar Allan Poe Square- This stop features a statue of EAP and other elements commemorating Poe, who was born in Boston. Appreciate the unique statue and the artistic interpretation of Poe's connection to the city.
Park Street Church Crypt- Get a glimpse into the crypt through basement windows. It's a fascinating, if macabre, piece of history. Observe the architecture and imagine what lies beneath. Hear the famous American Hymn "echoing from the bodies" buried deep beneath the church's foundation!
Massachusetts State House- Every great city has a visual anchor—a landmark that encapsulates its identity, its ambitions, and its history....for Boston, that anchor sits atop Beacon Hill, its golden dome catching the New England sunlight. We will peak inside one of the most spectacular buildings ever designed.... simply, a gem.
Louisburg Square- A private, residential square on Beacon Hill, Louisburg Square is one of the most exclusive and picturesque areas of Boston. We will walk around its perimeter and admire the stunning townhouses. Famous Politicians, Businessmen and Hollywood Actors are part of the lore of this stunning square!
Acorn Street- Cited as the "most photographed street in America," Its cobblestones and gas lamps make it feel like a step back in time. Get ready with your camera!
Ether Dome at Massachusetts General Hospital- While part of a major hospital, the Ether Dome is a historic surgical amphitheater where the first public demonstration of surgical anesthesia took place. It's a significant site in medical history. Pete will tell a story about "A Famous Candy" and how it fits in with this highly historic site!
Please note while the tour progresses Pete will be telling stories of his own past Boston Experiences that will give you a "Real Feeling" of what Boston is all about. He will recommend many other unique and interesting places to see and fun things to experience while you continue your visit to our wonderful city.
