Description
December 1921, Europe is just out of World War I. The young Ernest Hemingway establishes with his wife in a one bedroom apartment in the Latin quarter as a correspondant for the Toronto Star. With the help of a few, he will rapidly refine his style as an author and grow to international recognition.
Paris will be the scene of his first novel “The Sun also rises“. His passion for Paris will stay intact throughout his career. With “A moveable feast” published posthumously, Hemingway remembers his early days in the French capital.
With this two-hour tour, you will be walking in Hemingway‘s footsteps, discovering his favorite spots (cafés, bookshops, neighborhoods). I will bring you to his three residences throughout the years, all of them in the Paris left bank. We will finish the tour in Montparnasse, the epicenter of modern art during the “roaring 20s”.
Join us for this 2 hour walking tour and witness with your own eyes the magic of Paris during the golden years which brought Hemingway to world recognition as a novelist !
I am a citizen of the world, curious of all nationalities, worships and passions. I have faith in life and in relationships. They elevate the mind and bring us closer to the Almighty… ;-) I am a trained musician (piano and drums) with a particular interest for jazz and Latin. I also have a particular interest for American literature, namely, authors that have succeeded in the early 1900s in Paris as part of the Golden Age. I have spent a number of years abroad, namely, the USA, Brazil and parts of Africa.Welcome to France!

We took this tour today with Christophe and found it both enlightening and enjoyable. Rather than simply tracing Hemingway’s footsteps through Paris, the tour brought to life the intellectual and artistic world that shaped him during his formative years as a writer.
Christophe is knowledgeable and generous with his insights. He seamlessly wove together literary history, anecdotes, and the broader cultural context of 1920s Paris, while making time for questions and discussion.
Christophe gave us a deeper appreciation not only of Hemingway, but also of the vibrant community of writers and artists who made Paris such a remarkable place during that era. A memorable and rewarding experience.

We really enjoyed Christophe’s tour as he gave us the full gamut of the Paris Hemingway experience but also threw in other interesting details about local architecture and history. Be prepared to walk but it is worth it!

Christophe was a great guide: kind, patient, and friendly. Thanks to him, we learned a lot about Hemingway and Paris in the 1920's, with its exciting bohemian and cultural vibes. We walked through the most iconic literary landmarks of that time, and we fell in love with Paris, its enduring magnetism for culture and literature, no matter the era. Thank you so much, Christophe, for the wonderful adventure! - Nick and Gina

I really enjoyed this, saw some beautiful parts of Paris from a specific point of view and learned some new history and things about Hemingway. Christophe introduces other people, who were contemporaries of Hemingway, and gives a real flavour of the Paris they lived in. He also had good recommendations of places to eat and drink.
