Kreuzberg Rebel: from the Turkish neighborhood to punk and Berlin's counterculture

Kreuzberg is a neighborhood that never gave up.

Divided by the Wall, isolated on the outskirts of West Berlin: What seemed like an abandoned ghetto turned into a refuge for the Turkish community, punks, squatters, and artists who transformed its streets into the epicenter of European counterculture.

On this tour, we will explore the legendary SO36, where new wave and punk influenced an entire generation; we will learn about the history of the 36 Boys on Naunynstraße; and we will discover how abandoned hospitals like Bethanien or houses like Rauch-Haus became symbols of squatter resistance.

We will see iconic murals like the Cosmonaut or the animals by Roa, talk about the political voice of Rio Reiser, and delve into the eternal debate of gentrification: how does a marginalized neighborhood become one of the most desired and expensive in Berlin today?

We will also visit the magical Baumhaus an der Mauer, a cabin built against the Wall that survived against all odds, and pass through the controversial Görlitzer Park, between its railway past and current tensions.

The tour ends at Schillingbrücke, in front of the Spree, where the city still retains its alternative spirit.

This is not a tour of monuments; it is an immersion into the rebellious soul of Berlin. If you want to feel the creative chaos of Kreuzberg and understand why it continues to inspire the world… I'll be waiting for you at Kotti.

The tour lasts 3 hours and 15 minutes

Hello! I'm Estela, and I've been living in Berlin for five years. For me, a city that isn't just streets, but open books full of secrets, voices, and memories. I studied Ancient Sciences and I'm passionate about giving spirit to places: allowing every corner to speak to us as if it had a soul. Through my social media projects *La Vida de Nosotros* and *Te Cuento de Alemania*, I've been sharing these stories for some time now, and now I want to experience them with you in the city, walking and discovering together what Berlin still whispers. I invite you to walk with us through Berlin and discover its hidden voices, those that don't always appear in guidebooks, but that make this city an unforgettable place :)
