History and Flavors of My Land: Puerto Madryn

We start at the General San Martín central square, then we will walk through the streets that will lead us to learn about the history of the city's beginnings, of the Welsh, Italian, and Spanish immigrants who began the formation of the town, passing through the layout of the central Chubut railway, we will reach its old station, the first neighborhood of the city, and the Loma Blanca, a sacred site of our Tehuelches ("People of the Land," native inhabitants of Patagonia).

We move towards the coast where we will appreciate the city's cruise ship dock.

Also, between the months of June and September, there is a high probability of spotting, from the coast, the wonderful Southern Right Whales that enter the Nuevo Gulf to mate and give birth to their calves. We hope to be lucky the day you visit us!

We continue along the La Rambla promenade and the main avenue.

We will learn stories of adventurers, such as those who started diving and spearfishing activities in our gulf with the help of a famous French diver.

Following the coastal front, we will learn about the Nuevo Gulf, the tides, port conditions, and the location of the historic site where the first Welsh immigrants arrived in 1865.

We will also provide all the information walkers need about excursions, places of interest, currency exchange, gastronomy, and activities in the city and surroundings.

To finish, we will visit one of the gastronomic venues in our city where we will taste typical Patagonian flavors represented by the most traditional drinks and foods of our city and Argentine Patagonia.

Patagonia is my chosen home. I've lived in Puerto Madryn for 30 years and I love sharing its charm and history with visitors. I want them to feel embraced by the hospitality of our people and captivated by the magic of this land.
