Hi there! I’m Tristan, a traveller-turned-local, who has guided walking tours in Europe and now calls Melbourne my adopted home. After years of exploring new places, I’ve fallen in love with Melbourne’s stories, its laneways, its coffee culture, and its wonderfully quirky character. I’m passionate about helping people discover what makes a city unique-not just the history, but the hidden gems, the legends, and the local moments you’d never find on your own. Join me for a relaxed and fun walk through Melbourne as we uncover the secrets, surprises, and flavours of this incredible city!

Tour description

Step back in time — then sip your way into the present on this free tour of Melbourne.
Melbourne began as a rough gold rush settlement filled with convicts, bushrangers, and dreamers. Today it’s a city of hidden laneways, world-class coffee, and creative energy. On this walking tour, you’ll explore how Melbourne transformed from outlaws to lattes — from its gritty beginnings to its modern identity as one of the world’s most liveable cities.
We’ll start at the Old Melbourne Gaol, where Ned Kelly’s legend was born, then wander through grand Victorian architecture, multicultural Chinatown, and the city’s most iconic arcades and laneways. Along the way, you’ll hear stories of gold, migration, rebellion, and the cities famed coffee culture, with plenty of time for photos and questions.
We’ll finish by the Yarra River at the Southbank near Hamer Hall, surrounded by skyline views, cafés, restaurants and bars.
This is an early evening tour, perfect for avoiding the heat and seeing Melbourne come alive as the lights switch on and the city fills with energy.
Having spent time doing free tours in Europe, now based in Melbourne, I can't wait to explore Melbourne with you! ☕
