Historical Tour of the Town of Arucas
The tour lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes
Available in Spanish
Description
We will meet at the entrance of the municipal park of Arucas to begin the tour of one of the most beautiful towns in the Canary archipelago. After a brief introduction to the town and the history of the conquest of Gran Canaria, we will delve into its colonial streets, towards the Fuente del Pilar.
We will also learn about the history of the Gourié family and their involvement in the economic development of Gran Canaria. We must not forget the nearby water sources and the population configuration of the area, from the pre-Hispanic period. Arucas has a strong connection with its sister town, Teror, where a free tour type guided visit is also offered.
Then, we will visit Manuel Ramos square, where we will also talk about the Canarian intellectuals, to conclude the tour next to the most curious church on the island, the Church of Arucas, in Neo-Gothic style. Additionally, we will also tell the story of one of the most famous rums in Spain, Arehucas rum.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you!
