Hello! My name is Jorge, I'm from Elche and passionate about the humanities. I moved to Athens after studying History and started my career as a tour guide there. I learned how to work with tourists and I want to bring all that experience back to my homeland. Iberians, Greeks, Romans, Phoenicians, Arabs—we are all part of a wonderful whole called History. Come and discover our shared history! I'll be waiting for you!

Tour description

We will begin the tour by standing in front of the Lady of Elche sculpture in the center of La Glorieta square. From there, we will discuss the Iberians and their art, using the sculpture as a starting point to understand the ancient origins of the city.

Afterwards, we'll go to the Town Hall, where we'll delve into Elche's medieval past. We'll take this opportunity to discuss its history and the urban development of the Plaça de Baix and Plaça de Dalt, as well as some of the notable features preserved within the building itself.

Next, we'll enter the area of the city walls to explore Muslim Elche, focusing on the archaeological site located there. During the tour, we'll stop at other points of interest that are part of the old city walls, such as the Calahorra Tower and the Altamira Palace.

Next, we'll head to Santa Maria, where we'll jump to a more modern era through the Basilica and its role in the city. At this point, we'll explore the diverse and exquisite cuisine that has developed over time.

We will conclude by discussing the Palmeral, taking advantage of the surroundings of the Parque de los Patos to explain its historical and cultural importance.
