Free tour - Walk around Lagoa da Conceição on the 18th-century trail
Located in the Lagoa da Conceição region, this trail, opened by enslaved people in the 18th century, connects Canto dos Araçás with a traditional fishing village on the Costa da Lagoa, covering just over 6 km on a one-way journey, surrounded by nature, history, and tranquil landscapes.
The route along the shores of Lagoa da Conceição presents no major difficulties, with only a few gentle elevations, revealing typical scenes of the Atlantic Forest, historical paths, and charming views of the lagoon. During the hike, we will visit a cassava mill and an 18th-century colonial house, remnants of Azorean occupation and the productive history of the region.
Our hike ends at the Costa da Lagoa Waterfall, where a dam has been built to form a natural pool where we can cool off on hot days.
Afterwards, participants can choose to have lunch at one of the several nearby restaurants and enjoy the typical cuisine of the region.
The return to the starting point is by boat (some restaurants offer it as a courtesy), providing a peaceful and panoramic closure to the experience.
The activity is led by a specialized guide, with extensive experience in hiking, culture, and the environment, offering not just a hike, but a complete experience of the cultural and natural identity of the island.
The hike is free, but there is a cost of R$15.00 to take a boat back to the starting point.
