City of La Plata: Historical Tour of a Founding Capital
Tour description
The city of La Plata was born as a modern and ambitious project. Our Historical Tour invites you to explore its most emblematic spaces to understand the magnitude of that founding vision.
We begin in Plaza Moreno, the symbolic center of the city and the scene of its founding in 1882. There stand the imposing Cathedral of La Plata, a neo-Gothic jewel and spiritual symbol, and the Municipal Palace of La Plata, a reflection of the institutional order that shaped the new capital.
We continue along Avenida 51 to the Teatro Argentino de La Plata, a cultural landmark of the city, whose history combines splendor, loss and reconstruction.
The route continues towards Plaza San Martín, where the Buenos Aires Province Legislature and the Buenos Aires Province Government House are located, consolidating the city's political role as the provincial capital.
We finished in La Plata Soho, where history meets contemporary life.
A journey to discover how one of the most emblematic planned capitals in Latin America was born and consolidated.
