Private Asakusa Food Walk with a Local
The tour lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes
Available in English
Description
Step into the streets of Asakusa and experience Tokyo at your own pace — through local food, Japanese culture, and everyday life with a Japanese local.
This is a private-style experience for just one booking, so your group will never be mixed with other guests. Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, with family, or with friends, I’ll adjust the experience to what you’re most interested in.
Love Japanese food? We can focus on tasting local favorites and exploring Asakusa’s food scene.
Interested in Japanese culture? We can visit Kaminarimon Gate, Nakamise Shopping Street, and Senso-ji Temple, and I can show you how to properly pray, make an offering, draw an omikuji (fortune slip), and explain the history and customs behind what you’re seeing.
Not particularly interested in temples or history? No problem — we can simply focus on food, drinks, and exploring the neighborhood.
Local foods we may try
Depending on your interests, appetite, and what’s available that day, we may try:
- Unagi (eel) onigiri
- Ningyo-yaki (traditional Asakusa cakes)
- Japanese melon pan
- Matcha
- Takoyaki
- Monjayaki
- Okonomiyaki
- Strawberry daifuku
- Purple sweet potato soft serve
- Menchi-katsu
- Sushi
- Japanese pickles
- Other local snacks and dishes
You don’t have to try everything — we’ll choose together based on what you like.
Along the way, we can talk about Japanese food, culture, history, customs, Tokyo, and everyday life in Japan. I’m happy to answer questions and share things you might not notice when exploring Asakusa on your own.
This is not a fixed itinerary that you have to follow. I want the experience to feel natural and flexible, so if you’re more interested in food, we’ll eat. If you’re curious about Japanese culture, we’ll explore it. If you want a bit of both, we’ll do both.
I’m also practicing my English through these tours, so the atmosphere is relaxed, friendly, and conversational.
Think of it as exploring Asakusa with a Japanese friend — discovering the places, food, and culture that interest you most.
Food and drinks are generally paid separately by guests. If you’d like to share food or drinks together, you’re welcome to cover my portion. If you enjoy the experience, a tip is also appreciated, but completely optional.

Guide: DAIKI
Guiding since 2026Hi, I'm Daiki — a 25-year-old Tokyo local who has spent most of my life exploring the streets, food, and hidden corners of this city.
I started guiding because I'm on a journey to improve my English, and there's no better way to learn than through real conversations with travelers from around the world.
Tokyo is a city I know deeply and love deeply. I want to share the side of it that guidebooks miss — the backstreets, the local food, the everyday life that makes this city so special.
Come walk with me. Let's explore Tokyo together!
