Experience one of Bolivia’s most authentic traditional markets, where indigenous communities still practice ancient traditions such as barter. Every Sunday, Tarabuco transforms into a vibrant hub of commerce, culture, and living heritage.


Join this unique free tour (tips-based) to discover one of Bolivia’s most authentic indigenous markets, located in Tarabuco, a traditional village near Sucre.
We will start in Sucre and take local transportation (approx. 1 hour) to Tarabuco. Once there, we will explore the famous Sunday market, spread throughout the town center.
During the experience, you will:
Discover the Yampara culture and its warrior history
Learn about the tradition of barter (trueque) still present today
Explore the local campesino market and daily life
Admire and understand the meaning of traditional textiles, worn every day with pride
Interact with local vendors (“caseras”)
Visit an indigenous art museum
Take amazing photos and enjoy a truly authentic cultural experience
🍽️ We will also stop for lunch at a traditional restaurant.
