Secret Getxo: mansions, shipwrecks, and sailors by the sea

Hello, dear travelers!

I'm Laura, and I want to show you my beloved town: Getxo. Just 14 km from Bilbao, it hides one of the most special corners of the Basque Country, and one of its best-kept secrets.

Together we will walk along the majestic promenade of the grand villas, flanked by mansions that tell centuries of history, until we reach the picturesque Old Port of Algorta. A place where time seems to have stopped, and where locals gather to enjoy pintxos, rabas, and txakoli, the quintessential Basque white wine.

And we won't leave without talking about the highlight of the tour: the Hanging Bridge of Getxo, the oldest of its kind in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
