Morning amble in the French Quarter

The tour lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes
Available in English

Description

More than just Bourbon Street's carousing carnival atmosphere, the French Quarter is the heart of old New Orleans.

Take a leisurely stroll through a neighborhood steeped in wonderful and strange history. Music fills the air and beautiful historic architecture surrounds you, as you hear tales of the colorful inhabitants that make this neighborhood like none other in America.

This walking tour winds past the art galleries and antique shops of Royal Street, explores the music and party traditions of Bourbon Street, visits the old town square by beautiful Saint louis cathedral, and finishes with a walk in the cooling breezes of the picturesque Mississippi River, ending by the historic open-air French Market.

The Accidental New Orleanian I didn’t mean to become a New Orleanian. In 1993, I’d just left college and was making my way across the country on a summer road trip. On the way I stopped in New Orleans to visit an old college buddy. A two week hangout became a two month working vacation which became three decades in New Orleans. It’s New Orleans. That’s the kind of thing that happens here. I never did use that history/anthropology major I had in college to become a high school history teacher as I’d planned, but I did eventually find a way to use my love of those subjects. Fifteen years ago, I started sharing my love of my adopted hometown with fantastic people from around the world as a tour guide. I’ve never regretted the decision.
