The Accidental New Orleanian
I didn’t mean to become a New Orleanian.
In 1993, I’d just left college and was making my way across the country on a summer road trip. On the way I stopped in New Orleans to visit an old college buddy.
A two week hangout became a two month working vacation which became three decades in New Orleans.
It’s New Orleans. That’s the kind of thing that happens here.
I never did use that history/anthropology major I had in college to become a high school history teacher as I’d planned, but I did eventually find a way to use my love of those subjects.
Fifteen years ago, I started sharing my love of my adopted hometown with fantastic people from around the world as a tour guide. I’ve never regretted the decision.
