The real Chelsea tour: Iconic sights and hidden gems

In the first half of the tour, we’ll explore the carefully curated streets of the Cadogan Estate, admiring its extraordinary Flemish-inspired architecture and learning about the fascinating history of the family behind it.

Chelsea really does have a story around every corner, with no shortage of scandal and intrigue. From grand Victorian buildings and elegant garden squares to hidden mews, I’d love to share some of my favourite discoveries and first-hand knowledge with you.

We’ll discover how the Cadogan family has meticulously shaped and developed this part of London, and how their remarkable attention to detail continues to influence Chelsea today.

In the second half of the walk, we’ll cross the King’s Road to discover how this riverside village became one of London’s most desirable neighbourhoods, guided by the little-known story of Hans Sloane.

Along the way, we’ll uncover royal connections, visit Oscar Wilde’s former home, peer into Chelsea Physic Garden, stroll along Chelsea Embankment and marvel at Christopher Wren’s Royal Hospital Chelsea, which today provides a home for the famous Chelsea Pensioners, before returning to Sloane Square.
