Hidden Victoria - The Little Gem of Westminster.
The tour lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes

Description
Think you know Victoria? Think again. Beyond the bustling station lies a neighbourhood packed with tales of rogues, royalty, redemption and a few heavenly surprises.
Along the way, expect stories of spies, slums, saints, sovereigns and spectacular architecture, with a few surprising facts and oddities thrown in for good measure. History here isn't locked away in museums—it's hiding in plain sight. All you need to do is look up... and occasionally around the corner today's adventure — it's about the hidden stories tucked away behind Victoria's busy streets.
We will explore a place where there is enough espionage stories that would make James Bond raise an eyebrow, then wander into the calm, peaceful green space that offers a welcome pause before uncovering one of London's darkest chapters.
Explore one of the capital's most notorious slums. Hard to imagine today, but these quiet streets in Victoria, were once infamous for poverty, crime and overcrowding—far removed from the polished Westminster we see now.
From there we'll marvel at the magnificent Westminster Cathedral, London's largest Catholic church. With its striped brickwork and soaring campanile, it's a building that looks as though it took a wrong turn on the way from Byzantium and decided London suited it just fine.
Finally, finishing at a thoroughly modern shopping hub sitting atop layers of history—a fitting reminder that in London, every shiny new building has a story lurking beneath it.
Guide: Jane
Guiding since 2026I'm a qualified Westminster guide and former teacher with a passion for bringing London's history to life. Thanks to my background in education, I create engaging walks around Westminster that blend fascinating stories, hidden history, and the unique character of each neighbourhood.
Whether we're wandering through Covent Garden, Marylebone, St James's, Victoria or the heart of Westminster, my walks are designed to be informative, entertaining and full of conversation. I love helping people see familiar streets in a new light, uncovering the people, places and quirky tales that have shaped London over the centuries.
I'd be delighted to take you on a walk and share my enthusiasm for London and the Londoners who have made it such an extraordinary city, past and present.
