Stella is very great in storytelling about the history of Vietnam. We really learned a lot from her as she also shared her family's experience during the war. She provided detailed explanation during our visit in Hoa Lo Prison and also in Temple of Literature. Very great experience and highly recommended!

Stella's knowledge was incredible. She answered all our questions, knew her history dates. There was not one question she could not answer. She was very friendly and engaging. Shared with us of her own families experiences, and was very generous with her time. Probably the best GuruWalk I've been on.

Stella was an unbelievable guide! Her knowledge was brilliant & we couldn't recommend her more! Thank you soo much.

Amazing tour. Stella was a wealth of knowledge and was very understandable. Visiting the Hoa Lo Prison aka "Hanoi Hilton" is a very somber experience and especially so when Stella gives personal stories. It is a must do tour as it gives great insight to the people of Vietnam. Recommend for every visitor to Hanoi..10 star review.

Stella was incredible! She was so knowledgeable and generous in sharing so much information about what the people of Vietnam have been through. She spared no detail, it was very intense to hear about the horrors committed by France and US, yet it was extremely inspiring to know that despite that, the people continued to fight for and eventually win their independence. It is tragic that anyone should have to fight to govern their native land. It is extremely important for visitors to be aware of the history of this beautiful country, especially those of us who are visiting from countries that have committed atrocities, so we can fight against our government when they continue to perpetuate the same violence elsewhere. Stella was a generous guide. She was thoughtful, helpful, kind and answered questions we had. Along with historical information, she also shared personal accounts from her family, neighbors, and community members. We left knowing so much more about the history and also the culture of the educational system in Vietnam. This tour specifically was an interesting mix of war history and the history of the educational system and the present day educational system in Vietnam. Thank you so much, Stella. You are amazing!!!

It is rare to find a guide who understands that history isn’t just about battles and monuments; it’s about the human patterns we seem destined to repeat and the scars that never quite fade. She didn’t just recite facts, she provided a deeply human, layered perspective on the conflict that felt raw and, at times, startlingly honest.

Stella was great! She was able to answer all my questions and gave tons of useful information and context. Two things I didn’t know that would have been nice (she let us know these things the night before, but wish the tour page mentioned it): 1. We visited INSIDE the Hoa Lo Prison and Temple of Literature. It mentions we go to these places, but sometimes walking tours just take you to the outside and talk about it. This is what I thought, so my husband and I visited the day before:(. Not a big deal, but wish it had been clear. 2. You will need to pay for the guides entrance into both places (50k and 70k VND, respectively). It’s shared amongst the guests, and it’s not much, but if your group is only 3 (like mine) or less, it could be something to know, so you have enough cash (you don’t always know how big your group will end up being). These things didn’t take away from the excellent quality of information. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed this tour with Stella. She was extremely knowledgable and could talk about any detail that we inquired with our many questions. It was also nice to get some more insights about Vietnamese culture and people through her personal experience. We were the only two people in the tour and she adapted the tour to our needs, which was great. We would definitely recommend this tour.

Very informative you about Vietnam and it's past and present times. Stella is a great guide. She contacted me in advance to give clear information about the tour. She led the group through two significant places in Hanoi and told about the history of these places and of the country in total. I liked that she shared her personal stories related to the topic of the tour. She is very lovely, smart and ambitious person and does her job just great.
