Free Walking Tours im jüdischen Viertel von Tétouan

This was an enlightening tour. We went through multiple parts of the Medina - clothing, jewellery - gold and silver, leather goods, spices and even bread has its own quarter within the medina. Our guide Mr.Hamid was extremely friendly, patient and well-informed. He took us inside a traditional Muslim house and a traditional Jewish house (both now Riad hotels), during the course of the tour. He bought us fresh bread, fresh pastilla and freshly roasted nuts which I thought was very sweet of him. He showed us the water network, the various signs on the ground to identify gates, museums, free water etc. We got to see the old door at one of the gates, the door of the oldest mosque and we passed through so many of gates. We also went to the Sunday Berber market and got us to understand some Berber history. We went through the Jewish quarter and the synagogue, the Tétouan tannery where we got a distant look of the Mediterranean and a good 'sniff' of the smells of the tannery ;-) Everything I had seen I understood better after I did the tour with Mr. Hamid. All in all, what a tour! It was packed with information and sights. A must do, if one wants to properly explore the medina.

Hamid is a truly dedicated and professional guide. Despite the bad weather and the fact that I was the only participant, he still took the time to show me all the highlights of Tétouan’s old medina, without cutting any corners. His dedication and thoughtful explanations helped me truly appreciate the city’s incredibly rich history and cultural heritage. A wonderful experience, and I’m very grateful for his efforts!

Todo genial. Nos ayudó para buscar un sitio donde dejar las mochilas mientras hacíamos el tour. El tour duró fácilmente 4-5horas. Nos recomendó un sitio local para comer que estuvo genial.

I booked the tour of 12h30 pm with my girlfriend, and even though it was just the two of us, Hamid took us through a great and cozy round of the main sights and also less turistic spots of the city, making our visit unique indeed. Thumb up for advicing a delicious spot for a boccadillo at the end of the tour. Highly recommend!

I had the privilege to have a tour on my own with Hamid. He brought to life so many aspects of the beautiful medina that without a guide would have been impossible to appreciate (e.g. the presence of a prison, a tannerie, weapon factory, mosques, schools, different quarters like the Jewish and Morisco ones etc.). Despite having travelled extensively in Morocco until this tour I really had not appreciated how extensive the activities of a medina are. Hamid is also easy going and friendly whicj helped make the visit enjoyable as well as enriching.

Hamid ha sido nuestro mejor guía de todos los tours que hemos tenido en el norte de Marruecos. Hemos ido cuatro personas, tres francoparlantes y una castellano hablante. Hamid ha hecho el Tour tanto en español como en francés con muchísima profesionalidad. Éramos dos adultos y dos adolescentes y ha mantenido a las chicas entretenidas en todo momento con explicaciones claras y que captaban su atención. Hemos hecho un Tour de tres horas excediéndose del tiempo que inicialmente teníamos estipulado, incluyendo aquello que era de nuestro interés.
