My name is Carlos Ramos Fuentes and I'm from Galicia, Spain. I'm a translator, interpreter and producer in Tokyo, Japan, but have also lived in Kyoto, Texas, Barcelona and Salamanca. I hold a Master's Degree in Culture and Business in Eastern Asia by the University of Barcelona, and a Bachelor's Degree in Translation and Interpreting by the University of Salamanca (with an international stay in Doshisha University, Kyoto). I've informally toured around in Tokyo and Kyoto in all my working languages.
We'll be learning about the actual history of Meiji Jingu Shrine in Shibuya, in Tokyo.
We'll start with a quick history introduction on religion in Japan. After that, we'll have a course on how to purify oneself and pray properly in Japanese temples. We'll be drawing 'omikuji' or fortune slips, which the guide will translate from Japanese into English, and later we'll also speak about the history of Meiji Jingu Shrine.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
