Hello! Welcome to the Aveiro tour! I am your guide, Paulo. I am here to make your visit to the charming city of Aveiro, also known as the 'Portuguese Venice', an unforgettable experience. I will do everything I can to make your life as a tourist easier before, during and after the tour. Our tour will begin at the Obelisco da Liberdade, a historical landmark in the center of this beautiful city. During the tour, I will share with you interesting facts, fascinating stories and must-see places that Aveiro, the "Portuguese Venice", has to offer. Additionally, I am available to answer any questions you may have and provide useful information about restaurants, transportation and other activities in Aveiro. Together we will explore the picturesque streets of Aveiro and discover its charming canals, the famous moliceiros and the traditional tiles that adorn the buildings. Join me on my "Free walking tour of downtown Aveiro" and you will be guided through this great city with a special guide who has traveled all over the world. This tour focuses on the city center and the old town and also shows you where everything you want to see is. I will show you some amazing details only seen with a local local and share a lot of experiences. We will walk along the banks of the Aveiro canals and during the tour we will see the famous "Moliceiros" and "Mercantel", the typical local boats that were once used to transport salt and seaweed. You will fall in love with their shapes and decorations. Furthermore, we will discover old warehouses and Art Nouveau buildings with distinctive facades and we will cross different walkways such as the Carcavelos bridge. Then we will see some of the most famous and historic buildings in the city. We will look at the facade of the Igreja da Misericórdia, which is characterized by the white and blue tiles that adorn it. In the same square as the temple is the town hall of Aveiro and its municipal theater. We will meet "José Estevão", one of the most important guys in Aveiro. After an hour and a half of discovering Aveiro (always a little more..) we will end the free walking tour to return to the starting point so that you can explore the city on your own. There are many large traditional tiles near this large Catholic temple. And don't worry about the rest of your trip because I can give you some great recommendations for amazing food and many more amazing things to do in this city to avoid falling into typical tourist traps.
