Free Tour: History of the Port, Red Light District, and the Beatles with Hamburg on Foot
- 2 hours
- Spanish
Description
Free Tour of the Port and the Red Light District with the Blue Umbrellas!
We await you with the blue umbrellas at Landungsbrücken, at Bridge No. 5, at 5:30 PM for our Free Tour (Pay-what-you-want Tour). If possible, we will travel on ferry "62" through the port, one of the most important in the world (€1.90). During the tour, you will discover fascinating details about the old Elbe tunnel and the fish market, and get to know the city of Altona, a neighbor of Hamburg.
The tour will continue through St. Pauli and the Red Light District, where you will learn about the history of the Beatles, who began their career in this neighborhood famous for its vibrant nightlife and its history linked to "sex, drugs, and Rock'n'Roll". Due to its content, this tour is not suitable for children. St. Pauli, a neighborhood that has resisted gentrification, remains the most alternative in the city.
The tour will conclude, at the guide's discretion, at the smallest police station in Germany or at Beatles Square, around 7:30 PM. Please note that in case of adverse weather conditions or capacity issues, the ferry will not operate and the tour will follow the route described.
NOTE: Participation cannot be guaranteed for reservations made less than 24 hours in advance, as we need that time to inform about a possible tour cancellation.
Guide: Hamburgo a pie
Guiding since 2020PRO
We are local guides in Hamburg and part of Hamburgo A Pie, a well-established and professional project that has been offering guided tours in Spanish for years to those who want to discover the city authentically. A free tour doesn't mean an impromptu visit or a commercial excursion: it means there's no fixed price and that, in the end, each participant is free to contribute what they consider fair based on their experience. It also means something very important to us: it's not a commercial tour. We don't make shopping stops, we don't pressure visitors to buy anything, and we don't take them to shops in exchange for a commission. Our commitment is to offer an honest, well-explained, and truly interesting tour. On this tour, we'll take you through Speicherstadt, the historic warehouse district, one of Hamburg's most iconic areas. Among canals, bridges, and red-brick buildings, you'll understand why this area was so important in the city's commercial and port history, and why it remains one of Hamburg's most impressive places today. It's the perfect tour for anyone who wants to experience an elegant, historic, and characterful side of Hamburg, and for those looking for more than just a stroll: a local and intimate experience with real flavor.
