Tour description

The best and safest way to explore Maputo as a visitor is with a guided tour on foot. This visit will take you to the historic downtown, and introduce you to the city from the times of the first inhabitants to the present days. The tour starts at the cathedral, and next, we go to:

  • Independence Square
  • Mozambican french cultural center
  • The iron house
  • The botanical gardens
  • The central market
  • The old mosque
  • The train station
  • Workers square
  • Bagamoyo street
  • The fortress.

    Meeting place is in front of the cathedral next to Rovuma hotel, I always carry a small black bag.

Aylton was out of town and had a colleague step in for him. Nelson met us at the meeting place, knew our names and immediately put us at ease with the guide substitution. Nelson's English was excellent as was his knowledge of Maputo. By the end of the tour we felt we had a good introduction to Maputo and Mozambique. Good job, Nelson!
