The city and its mountains

Duration: 3h
Languages: English
Guru: Freddy

I worked as an operator and tour guide in Bolivia. My hobby is trekking, history, archaeology, art and a good sense of humor. I love sharing anecdotes and enigmatic places in the city of La Paz. I was born in La Paz, I grew up among its colonial streets, its colorful markets; its social, political and economic processes that I will be happy to share during your visit to La Paz.

Tour description

  • Discover La Paz, its culture and history, the Three Most Spectacular Cable Cars, along with walks through its colonial streets and its witch markets.

  • The topography of La Paz is fabulous for hiking downhill from 4000 meters to 3660 meters in the main square.

  • The meeting will be at the red cable car station , also called the old train station. From here we will board the orange cable car and ascend towards Calvario and observe the spectacular nature of La Paz from the air.

  • From here you can see the entire city with a view of the 6500 meter Illimani mountain.

  • The walk begins here!
The slow descent shows us a city suspended in the mountains and we can

Since Freddy does tours with small groups, there was only the three of us which made the tour very special, personal and easy to walk around while discussing and listening to Freddie's information and story. Freddie has great knowledge about La paz, which is - combined with his talent to tell stories and wonderful English - always easy to follow. We would definitely recommend the tour and Freddy as a tourguide!

I really recommend Freddy because he was so knowledgeable about EVERYTHING!! From blood oxygen levels at altitude to anti credico investments in Bolivia, he knew it all. The tour took in a large overview of the city with lots of beautiful cable car rides. He also took me to a chemist to get mosquito repellent. So helpful!

Freddy took us on los semáforos way up high and then we strolled down through the colonial district and to some main town squares. Excellent stories and answered our questions about why things are the way they are in Bolivia. Of course the tour was in English but he also spoke to us in extremely clear Spanish at times so we could practice the language. Really happy we got to spend the afternoon with Freddy.
