Free Historical Sites Walking Tour
Tour description
I will take you to one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, either Kathmandu Durbar Square (ancient royal palace or Syambhunath (Swayambhunath), in the evening, by walking from Thamel, Kathmandu, on this walking tour.
You can even walk to both sites if you're up to it. For the Kathmandu Durbar Square walk, we start walking from Thamel and visit the Sigal Buddhist Stupa. After a quick visit to this beautiful Stupa, we walk to Bangemudha, which has a mythical and traditional belief to relieve tooth pain. After that, we walk to Ason Bazaar (local market), where we see the Goddess Annapurna (Ajima) temple, then walk towards Kathmandu Durbar Square through Indra Chok, seeing Seto Machhindranath and Akash Bhairav Temples.
I provide you with ancient historic information while visiting the Hanuman Dhoka royal palace, where you can see many temples, shrines, and the most crucial living goddess, Kumari.
The other site is the monkey temple in a hill station. You can see a magnificent view of the whole Kathmandu Valley, Buddhist monuments, and lots of monkeys in this place. The monkeys are not aggressive in this place.
After visiting any of these sites or both, we walk back to Thamel. It takes around two to two and a half hours to visit one site and four hours for both.
I have over two decades of experience guiding visitors, so you'll enjoy the tour with me and gather a wealth of information about Nepal.
