All about Nassau Tour
Tour description
Hi guys, this is Archie and I'd like to meet you and give you an orientation to Nassau history and culture.
We are a two guide team, Archie & Petura. Come be a Bahamian for a day, learn how we live, come listen to our stories.
Our tour is in the historical Downtown Nassau area. Learn about the colonial English past of the country as well as the current history and culture.
The tour starts at Parliament Square next to the Queen Victoria statue. We learn about the British colonial history of The Bahamas, Loyalist, and government of The Bahamas.
Next we take a 10 minute walk along Bay Street and onto Elizabeth Avenue to the visit the Queens staircase also known as the 66 steps, Water Tower and you will also get to see the Fort Fincastle which was a defensive military fortress built by the old English governor. These landmarks have a rich history having been established in the 18th century.
Afterward is The Garden of Remembrance where you will see our monuments to the Bahamian soldiers who died in World War 1 & 2 and you will learn about that aspect of our history.
Lastly is the Supreme Court of The Bahamas and you will learn about our legal system and more.
The tour completes back at Parliament square for a total of 2 hours.
