I'm a licensed tour guide in Bucharest, born and bred here. My tours focus on historical facts, peculiar trivia, fun stories and personal experience. My absolute favorite activity is showing people this overlooked corner of the world. I've been a tour guide for almost six years and I've met thousands of tourists. If you want to explore most of Bucharest's iconic sites without having to take two or three different tours, this is the perfect choice! It includes Calea Victoriei, which encompasses the Romanian Athenaeum, the former Royal Palace, Revolution Square, the passage with colorful umbrellas, Capșa House, University Square, CEC Palace and the National History Museum.
We will also visit the old town, which includes the Macca Villacrosse Passage, Lipscani Street, the National Bank, the Stavropoleos Monastery, Caru cu Bere, the Carturești Carusel bookstore, the Lupa Capitolina, the Manuc Inn, the Old Prince's Court and the Palace of Parliament.
At the end of the tour, you will have a solid understanding of the history and culture of Romania: how this country emerged, its transition from monarchy to dictatorship and from fascism to communism, the events during the communist regime and how the Ceausescu era ended. . The guide will wait for you in front of the Kretzulescu Church (a red brick church at Calea Victoriei 45). The meeting point is right next to Artichoke Social House.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
