A Natural Oasis in Buenos Aires: Discover Costanera Sur!

Do you want to discover the nature of Buenos Aires?

Come and discover the Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve!

Covering approximately 350 hectares, this is the largest green space in the City of Buenos Aires. It preserves diverse natural environments representative of the Río de la Plata coast: wetlands, riparian forest, thorn scrub, and grassland provide the settings where we can appreciate a great deal of biodiversity.

Its more than 500 species of plants , butterflies, reptiles, amphibians, and small mammals will accompany us throughout the tour. We will also be able to observe and listen to some of the more than 300 species of birds that visit the reserve. For this reason, this site has been declared a wetland of international importance , as well as an area of importance for bird conservation .

You'll be able to take incredible photos of the nature of Buenos Aires and the majestic Río de la Plata, the widest estuary in the world!

This tour is ideal for nature and outdoor lovers.

Fuente Monumental de Las NereidasWelcome to the Costanera Sur! Here we begin the tour, in front of this work by Lola Mora, inaugurated in 1903 in the city center, but censored and moved to the river in 1918. It depicts the Nereids attending the birth of Venus, goddess of fertility and sexuality, linked to nature and the protection of gardens. Can you imagine a better place for this work than at the entrance to an ecological reserve, facing the river-sea, where its power shapes and dominates life?

Reserva Ecológica Costanera SurWelcome to the Costanera Sur! From a popular beach resort to a failed urban development project and an ecological reserve. Here we'll talk about how this space developed, what it originally was, and how it was used by Buenos Aires residents before becoming a protected natural area, an important bird conservation site, and an international wetland.

Outside visit
Monumento Al Plus UltraWhy are we greeted by a statue of Icarus with his wings outstretched just a few meters from the entrance? This monument commemorates one of the feats that took place on the Río de la Plata off the coast of Buenos Aires: the voyage of the "Plus Ultra" seaplane, of the Spanish Military Air Force, which in 1926 made a transatlantic flight between Spain and Argentina. Today, it's not seaplanes that arrive on this shore, but rather a large number of migratory shorebirds. Come and see them!
