Hi folks! My name is Alejandro and I am very proud to call León my home. I have been leading tours for more than eight years. I consider myself a multifaceted individual with a passion for bridging cultures and sharing knowledge. As a tour guide and interpreter, you thrive on connecting people with new experiences and insights. My love for languages extends beyond mere communication; it's a gateway to understanding different perspectives and immersing yourself in diverse cultures. Outside of work, I find joy in the culinary arts, seeing cooking as another way to explore and appreciate different traditions. My curiosity and enthusiasm for learning languages and exploring new cuisines have led me to believe tourism is about engaging and enriching life memories for ourselves and those around us by learning something new from a new place one day at the time. Join one of my tours and learn about my beautiful city and country from a witty and knowledgeable perspective!
Welcome to the vibrant city of León, Nicaragua! Embark on a captivating walking tour that immerses you in the rich history, culture, and flavors of this charming colonial town.
Our journey begins in the heart of León, the Central Park (Parque Central), surrounded by majestic colonial buildings and bustling activity. Here, we'll delve into the city's past, learning about its significance as Nicaragua's intellectual and political hub.
Next, we'll visit the iconic León Cathedral (Catedral de la Asunción), a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the largest cathedrals in Central America. Marvel at its impressive architecture and climb to the top for panoramic views of the city and surrounding volcanoes.
As we stroll through the streets, we'll make a stop at the Mercado Central, where you can immerse yourself in the vibrant colors and flavors of Nicaraguan cuisine. Sample traditional snacks while chatting with friendly vendors and experiencing the everyday life of León's residents.
Eventually we'll walk through the South and West side of the city to learn more about the contemporary history of Nicaragua.
No visit to León would be complete without experiencing its vibrant arts scene. You will have the chance to admire the creativity of Nicaraguan artists portrayed in some of the walls of the July 23rd basketball court.
With its blend of history, cuisine, and local experiences, this walking tour promises to be an unforgettable journey through the soul of León, Nicaragua.
Southwest corner of the Basílica Catedral de León. Right where the Episcopal Palace and the La Asunción School meet.
We will go back in time to lay the groundwork of basic info about Nicaragua and interpret one of the largest murals in town that explains over 300+ years of the history of this beautiful land of lakes and volcanoes.
This particular stop is where all the aromas and flavors of the Nica gastronomy convey in the same space for us to be able to try some of the most unique snacks and sample some other products that can only be found in the north pacific coast of Nicaragua. *Morning schedule only*
We will visit the rooftop of the cathedral, there we would have to pay for the entrance fee USD3.00 per person (if all participants agree) or I would be more than happy to share the instructions so you can go on your own some other time. *Afternoon Schedule only*
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
