Rodolfo's tour is informative and gives a glimpse into some of the challenges faced by locals with the advent of mass tourism in Oaxaca. It doesn't necessarily follow the 'traditional tourist route', but I was happy about that. Rodolfo shares his insights, shares great tips and places to visit which include local cooperatives working in a more sustainable and ethical way. The day we went on the tour, we happened upon a celebration at a church, and got to try local juices which were being shared by the community. If you want a true voice and insight into Oaxaca, take this tour. However, if you are just looking for a superficial overview of the city, consider another guide.

An incredible way to get out of the touristic bubble in Oaxaca. Rodolfo’s awareness of today’s social issues expands on the understanding of Oaxaca culture today. He was kind, detailed, and super friendly. Rodolfo even gave us some extra tips for the rest of the day… 8 hours later … writing this review as soon as I could! As a latin American myself, I recommend this to anyone who wants to make sure you are a responsible tourists in a beautiful and sacred place. Without a doubt would love to take any other tour with Rodolfo. Pura vida 🙌🏽

Guadaloupe is a very informative guide who knows her food. She took us to a variety of places from food carts to restaurants. It's quite tricky when the group is made up of people with different eating issues and budgets, but she managed it well. Thanks for a great tour!

Fabulous interesting tour of the murals, with lots of history and interpretation and fun facts. I can't remember the guide's name unfortunately.

A great way to discover a unique, interesting and beautiful neighborhood in Oaxaco. Bring water and slather on the sunscreen as it can be hot with little shade. Our guru Dulcet was full of information and answers to all our questions. She gave background on each mural and each artist and provided context that was very helpful. Great way to spend two hours.

Free walking tour with Noël was great. For some basic knowledge around the city and an small intro into Oaxacan culture, I recommend the tour.

Rodolfo is a different kind of a walking tour guide. He created somewhat surprising stories about Oaxaca, past and present. His stories focus on social and people-centric aspects of Oaxacan historical events while leading us along beautiful streets and monuments of Xochimilco. The tour started at Santo Domingo church and we moved towards North direction and ended up at Xochomilcho church. One of main themes is overtourism in Oaxaca and it's undesirable impacts on residents and neighborhoods. He called the most touristy area of Centro Oaxaca as a bubble and chose Xochimilco as an alternative contrasting place where new social movements and programs are being tried. Indeed, Xochimilco was much more quieter but more visually beautiful than the touristy bubble. You can see Oaxacan residents there who are living there, not working in the bubble under stressful work conditions. He introduced some interesting social programs which, he hopes, can protect Oaxacan people and neighborhoods from bad effects of overtourism. His stories were music to my ears while I am enjoying beautiful streets and monuments of Xochimilco. Please try Rodolfo's tour if you are interested in a typical city tour as well as sustainable tour.
