Kotor with local guide: History, Humor & Local Stories

If you are looking for a dry history lesson, this tour is probably not for you. But if you want to discover Kotor through history, humor, religion, legends, gastronomy, local stories, gossip and anecdotes, and of course, the famous cats of Kotor, then you are in the right place 😁

I’m a certified guide, which means you will get real knowledge and proper historical context — just without the feeling that you accidentally joined a university exam. My tours are relaxed, engaging and full of personality, because I believe people remember a city better when they understand it and enjoy it at the same time.

And since many travelers quickly discover that Kotor can be magical but not exactly cheap, I’m always happy to help with practical advice too. I can recommend where to eat well without hurting your wallet, how to spend the rest of your day, what is really worth seeing around the Bay of Kotor and Montenegro, and what is better to skip.

Every tour is a little different depending on the group, so I adapt naturally to the people walking with me. Expect good energy, plenty of smiles, useful information and stories that go far beyond the usual guidebook version of Kotor.

Important and good to know before the tour:

Guided tourists pay city tax, which is 1€ per person.

One honest local warning: if you are coming from Budva, Tivat or nearby, don’t trust the map too much right now. Because of the roadworks on the Jaz–Tivat road, a 25-minute drive can sometimes become 1.5 hours, so please leave at least 2 hours earlier.

And if you are coming from Dubrovnik, give yourself plenty of extra time as well. The border between Croatia and Montenegro can be very slow, and with the newer entry procedures, crossing times may be longer than expected.

The tour lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes
Available in English and Spanish

Hi, I’m Marko, a certified tour guide from Kotor. I love turning a simple walk through the Old Town into a mix of history, humor, local stories and memorable moments. I’ve worked in tourism and media, lived among different cultures and always enjoyed meeting people from around the world. That is why my style is open, friendly and communicative. I take my work seriously, but I never want the tour to feel stiff or heavy. My goal is simple: I want you to learn something, laugh a lot, feel welcome and leave the tour knowing Kotor much better than when you first arrived šŸ™‚
