Plaza de Mayo is located in the Monserrat neighborhood, and it is the most important square in the City, the one that gave rise to Buenos Aires back in 1580 when Juan de Garay arrived in these then-unknown lands.

Plaza Mayor, Plaza de Armas, Plaza del Fuerte, Plaza de la Victoria, and Plaza 25 de Mayo are some of the names that Plaza de Mayo has received over the years, as it has been the site of the most significant and important events in Argentine history.

Historic buildings such as the Cabildo, the Metropolitan Cathedral, and the Casa Rosada surround Plaza de Mayo.
