on the corner of Paulista Ave with Augusta Street (Jardins side), in front of Banco do Brasil (subway station: Consolação). Our guides will be wearing red T-shirts and holding a red sign written “São Paulo Free Walking Tour”, and also a red umbrella.

Conjunto Nacional building and Jardins neighborhood

We start telling how Paulista Ave became from an address for the high society to the financial district, and later to the cultural heart of the city. And part of this history is the iconic Conjunto Nacional building, located on the corner with the famous Augusta St., and also next to the green and rich Jardins neighborhood.

Franco de Melo family’s abandoned old mansion

During our tour we show and talk about the last five old mansions that survived through the time, such as the residence of the coffee baron Joaquin Franco de Melo, that is still abandoned - and we tell the history behind!

Méqui 1000 and Mario Covas Park

One of the old mansions we see in our tour is now being used by the 1000th McDonald’s store in Brazil, but a lot of history before that. And here we also visit the green Mario Covas park, with Mata Atlântica forest and its diversity of Brazilian flora.
