Free tour of the Recoleta Cemetery
Tour description
In the heart of Buenos Aires stands one of the most striking cemeteries on the continent. Recoleta is not only a resting place, but a museum of stories frozen in time.
Through a guided tour, visitors are immersed in stories that combine art, politics, science, and mystery. The journey begins with one of the cemetery's most poignant myths: Rufina Cambaceres , a young aristocrat whose fate still sends shivers down their spines. Popular versions claim that her tomb showed signs of movement... days after her burial.
Further on, the figure of Federico Leloir , an Argentine scientist and Nobel Prize winner, emerges. His presence within these marble walls highlights the intellectual value that also inhabits these silent streets.
The itinerary also includes mausoleums filled with Masonic symbols, sculptures that seem to gaze upon the living, and epitaphs that invite reflection. Among them, the most visited is that of Eva Perón , whose posthumous journey is as legendary as her life.
Lasting approximately two hours, this experience doesn't aim to frighten, but rather to open a door to the stories the city hides behind its stone walls. Because here, among angels and cypresses, the past never sleeps.
