Free tour of the pearl of the Mediterranean
Tour description
The city of Al Hoceima has a rich history dating back long before its founding in 1920. The region in which the city is located has been inhabited by various tribes over the centuries, including the Phoenicians, Romans, and Arabs.
In 1920, the city was founded by the Spanish colonial authorities and soon became an important commercial and fishing port in the region. However, the city is also known for its role in the rebellion against Spanish colonial rule, led by Abdelkrim El Khattabi, who established the Rif Republic, the first democratic republic in Africa.
Our tour begins with a visit to Chita Park, a former park where caged animals such as gazelles and monkeys were kept. Next to the park, we can see the San José Church, founded by the Spanish in 1930. From there, we head to Mohamed VI Square, a meeting place. From the square, we walk toward Mohamed VI Avenue, where we can see craft shops, businesses, and local markets. Our next stop takes us to the famous Old Wall Walk, from a viewpoint where we can appreciate the port, the marina, and the nearby beaches of the city.
We'll have the opportunity to visit Quemado Beach. This is the largest beach in Al Hoceima and is located in the city center. It's a white-sand beach with crystal-clear waters and a wide range of water activities, including water skiing and windsurfing.
Our last stop will be the port and marina, where you can try fish and go on excursions to the sea.
But that's not all. We've also prepared some delicious secrets for you to discover for yourself on this tour.
