Jerez and the historic center: a walk through the monumental city

The Alcázar of Jerez is a site of great historical interest. And I'm not just saying that because I worked there as a guide; it is reflected in being the most characteristic and visited monument in the city. From the Almohad period (12th-13th centuries), inside we can admire the only mosque currently preserved in the city, some Arab baths, mills, towers, and even a palace from the 17th-19th centuries.

Starting at the Alcázar gate, a walk around its surroundings will lead us to discover some of the most outstanding elements of the historic center of Jerez: the Church of San Miguel, Plaza del Arenal, Calle Larga, the Jewish quarter, the palaces of Plaza Rivero... Each of these places holds a piece of the history of the city, of Andalusia, and of Spain without having to go far. Finally, we will reach the Cathedral of Jerez, a superb building with remarkable artistic elements both on its exterior and interior.

If you are looking for a tour of Jerez and its history away from large groups, this is your guide

* IMPORTANT: The visit to the Alcázar will be proposed during the mornings. It costs €5 or €1.80 for those born and residing in Jerez, retirees, students of any age and country, and people with disabilities. Likewise, visits to the interior of San Miguel (€3.5 per person) or the Cathedral (€4) are subject to the interest and availability of the group.

In the case of only one person, the incorporation of people in another language will be allowed, and the tour will be bilingual.

The tour lasts 2 hours
Available in English and Spanish

As a historian, my calling has always been to teach history. What better way to do so than as a guide, meeting new people and accompanying all those interested in learning about the history of Jerez and Spain in general, sharing my knowledge in the best and most engaging way possible, and learning from each other's experiences. Working as a guide at the Alcázar of Jerez allowed me to experience this fascinating world firsthand. Learning, discovering, and enjoying yourself while traveling is the goal. And if you're looking for a guide away from the large tour groups, this is the place for you.
