Ryōgoku Sumo Walking Tour History and Culture

This tour had a mix of local history and sumo history. It starts conveniently at a park with toilets available. We then visited important places including getting to see a life sized sumo ring. We highly recommend this tour, especially if you get Anna as your guide.

The tour was very nice and we learnt a lot about sumo but also about japanese history. The places, we were shown, we never would have discover on our own! Thanks a lot to our guide Oliver, who did a great job 😃! Jutta and Marco from Berlin

This was probably one of my favourite walking tours I've done! Oliver was a great guide, and you could really tell how invested he is in the tour and the information. There were no answers he couldn't answer, and he was always happy to go off topic and discuss things further. The tour itself was really well put together, taking us through different spots, discussing the history, and explaining the rules of Sumo. We were a small group, so we could really take our time and stop and wander around the different spots. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is in the area!

The Ryogoku Sumo Walking Tour with Oliver was hugely informative and covered many topics outside of sumo, from tragic earthquakes and fires to Japanese burial customs. The tour leads you to places that one would never find and much less appreciate without a guide. We learnt today how sumo is way more than chubby guys pushing each other out of a ring.
