Jewish Tranarchist Tours : Berlin 101
Tour description
You are invited on a short walk through the heart of Berlin to see the staples: we begin at the Lustgarten the Old Museum, Berlin Cathedral & Humboldt Forum. From there we proceed to Bebelplatz, formerly Forum Fridericianum. Then, after a brief stop at the Ampelmann store, we end at the Brandenburg Gate.
Along the way, we discuss prehistoric Berlin through the Prussian empire, revolution, "that time," the Cold War up to today, from a Jewish tranarchist perspective. This tour will not focus on dynasties or dates: rather, we share stories of women's contributions, queer love & the steadfast tapestry of resistence.
About your host: Hal is not a historian, nor has he ever claimed the title. However, he has a passion for research & stories; favourites include Dr Evelyn Hooker, John Brown & Wilfred Owen. Born in the Soviet Union & raised in the States, he finds Berlin a haunted swamp of scars & stubborn survival. When not giving tours, he performs as the drag king HP Loveshaft.
Warning, the weather will be miserable. We will go a cafe after where one can buy a hot drink, but please dress extra warm.
- Meeting point: Herbert Baum Memorial, Lustgarten
- 4 stops, 90 min (may go over)
- € 25 suggested ; no one turned away for lack of funds
