My name is Jorge, and I've lived in Kyoto for four years. I've visited temples and many tourist attractions in Kyoto. I'm a big fan of geek culture and anime, so I know the geek spots in Kyoto. I'd like to share these routes and my experiences with other people. I'm very talkative and enjoy interacting with people.

Tour description
This free walking tour explores the area around Nishiki Market and nearby downtown Kyoto, blending traditional culture with some of the most iconic anime, retro gaming, and geek culture shops in the city. Having lived in Kyoto for over four years, I share local insights, practical tips, and cultural context that help visitors understand both historic Kyoto and modern Japanese pop culture.
Main places we’ll visit:
• Nishiki Market and its history as “Kyoto’s Kitchen”
• Some of the area’s most iconic anime, manga, retro gaming, and geek culture shops
• Hidden streets and local spots around the Teramachi and Shinkyogoku shopping arcades
During the tour, I also share interesting facts about Kyoto’s history, how anime and gaming culture developed in Japan, where locals shop, and recommendations for affordable and authentic geek and cultural experiences. Visitors will also have the chance to optionally see or try local snacks and traditional sweets available in the market.
