Free historical post-war Mostar tour

Mostar, a unique city with a turbulent history and a life shaped by ethnic identities trying to overcome a painful past. We speak about the recent war period, the time of Yugoslavia, and how the city has changed through different eras. We share personal experiences of growing up during wartime, reflecting on how history has transformed the face of the city and formed identities that have coexisted for more than 400 years, influenced by the great empires that crossed this land and left their specific ways of life and the mentality of the locals.

Along the way, we pause to taste some sweets or share customs such as drinking coffee together. We tell the stories of our neighbor Andrej, who was taken to his death, we look at the ruins still visible in the city and explain how they were created, why civic Mostar was lost, and when all religious buildings — including the Jewish synagogue — will finally be rebuilt.
